The Jedi Council has called an emergency meeting to debate how best to restore harmony and co-operation within the fracturing rebel alliance. It is decided that the Jedi will stage a Race of Truth, an ancient Jedi trial in which each participant must individually face their greatest fears while completing a set course in the fastest time possible. The ultimate aim of the Race of Truth is the creation of a closer unit and the setting aside of the differences which have plagued the rebels since the Empire’s resurgence.
To no-one’s surprise, the champion PodRacer Martinn, despite sustaining injuries in an earlier attack, is able to beat the course in the fastest time. Cool, calm and collected, the Omegan remains composed whatever is placed in front of him. Froome Skyrider is able to use his mastery of the Force to come a close second, again using the Jedi spirit of his mentor Mace Wiggo, a specialist in the Race of Truth, to help guide him. His Padawan Porte also faces the course and performs well, seemingly recovered from the exhaustion he suffered while engaged in the rescue of Princess Michelle from JaBrailsford the Hutt.
Kwiatkowski, a young Padawan, finds that the Race of Truth has conjured him a Quintana to face. Able to keep up with the mysterious energy being, and even race ahead, he completes the course in an impressive time and finds his quiet confidence has impressed the Jedi Council. Also impressive are the Belkin warriors Mollema and TenDam, who each put in a solid performance, slower than Skyrider, but demonstrating their bravery and skill.
Marco Cavrissian is not so lucky. The course forces him to face his fear of being unpopular and he finds himself jeered and attacked by faceless assailants. And Cavrissian is not the only one to struggle with the Race of Truth. Jar-Jar Schleck, having completely failed to embarrass himself up to this point, is slow through the course, the Gungan having plenty of fears to face. Unexpectedly, Contador Solo posts a slower than expected time. Solo has been quiet throughout the recent rebel campaigns, the former Bounty Hunter concerned he may have made the wrong decision by staying with the rebels rather than going it alone. Distancing himself somewhat from his closest allies, it appears the Race of Truth has caused him to look at his reasons for being here and question his commitment to the cause…
