Mr. Mark Fairhurst, the subject of a recent Cyclismas profile and the artist behind the many iconic Art-Deco-style cycling posters you’ve seen shared on Twitter, has been approached by Michelin Star Chef Alan Murchison, who runs the famous L’Ortolan Restaurant in Shinfield.
Alan, a very keen sportsman, contacted Mark through Twitter after seeing his sports-themed artwork.
“I couldn’t believe it! Within a few minutes of chatting on the phone, Alan had me fired up with so much enthusiasm! He’s a very focused and inspirational chap.”
Murchison is running a Tour de France themed menu to celebrate the event’s 100th edition at L’Ortolan from 2nd-18th July.
Despite entering the art world relatively late in life, Mark Fairhurst, from Chalford in Gloucestershire, hit the headlines last year with his Deco style images of Olympians at London 2012.
Introduced to Twitter, he ‘Tweeted’ his first works. The rest, as they say, is history. Mark sells his work all over the world now.
Mark said, “Being a late starter in the art world, this has really boosted my confidence to carry on with my new path in life.
To be asked to do this project by one of the top chefs in the world makes me feel very proud!”.
Recently, film star Ewan McGregor took delivery of one of Mark’s cycling prints for his home in America.
